Loud sounds were reportedly heard by residents of Rufu community of Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba state. A resident confirmed the occurrence on phone to Frontline news.
"I heard loud sounds on top of Rufu mountain and immediately residents scamper for safety as the cause is not yet known" he said.
However, when contacted, the Chairman of Ussa Local Government Area told Frontline news that, the sound was that of falling rocks that lose their base from top of Rufu mountain due to lose soil following heavy rainfall experienced in the area.
The Chairman had since called on residents not to panic, but be calm and go about their legitimate endeavours as the situation is under control. No casualties was recorded at the time of filling this report.
