In the mission of Gov Darius Ishaku to sustain peace in southern Taraba, the Caretaker chairman of Takum local government, Hon Shiban Tikari unveilled strategies to sustain peace in Takum and environs.
Hon Tikari at the routine joint security meeting attended by Heads of security agencies, traditional leaders and youth groups at the council chamber of the Secretariat charged leaders of every community to build vigilante group that would liase with the security agencies to strengthen community policing.
Hon Tikari added that until residents are police of their communities and always ready to report ugly developments to relevant authorities, peace can't be sustained.
"We can't build a peaceful community where every tribe understands each other without policing our communities and identifying bad eggs to security agencies"
Hon Tikari also lauded Gov Ishaku's peace initiatives that opened path to peace building between Tiv and Jukun in the community.
He, therefore charged the people of Takum to key into the ongoing peace building exercise so as to enable the community benefit from the Rescue Agenda of Gov Ishaku led administration.
" I appreciate the painstaking effort of the Governor on the inauguration of committee members pulled from both factions that gave us lead-way to build and sustain peace in Takum. We can't benefit from the Rescue Agenda of Gov Darius Ishaku if we continue to heighten security in our place. Until we give him peace by willing to live in peace with ourselves with ourselves, we can't call him to develop to come develop our place".
Responding some traditional leaders, the Sarkin Jukun through Mallam Baba Shiddi thanked the Governor for his effort to ensure that there is improvement in the security situation of Takum. He appreciated the council chairman too for working round the clock to see that Takum people sleep in their homes without fear.
Also the Gara of Chanchanji, HRM, Alhaji Abduhamid Kumyerga thanked the Governor and maintained that they would do everything within their reach as traditional leaders to comply with relevant authorities in sustaining peace in Takum.
Also in the angle of security agencies, one of the top security chief who spoke on a condition of anonymity lauded the Governor's cooperation alongside the council chairman for stepping in anytime security heightens within the town.
