2023: Northern group says Tinubu deserves to succeed Buhari

Daily Trust reports that the group known as the North Eastern Youth Mobilization Congress, in a press statement issued recently by its coordinator Aliyu Balewa, highlighted some of the reasons why it supports the APC national leader succeeding Buhari as the next president.

One of the reasons highlighted by the group is that Tinubu played a key role in ensuring the victory of the APC and President Buhari in the 2015 and 2019 general elections and deserved to be compensated with the party’s ticket for his efforts. According to the northern-based group, another reason why Tinubu should be allowed to contest in the next presidential election is that he is a true nationalist that can unite the compatriots if elected president in 2023. The group’s coordinator, Balewa, also described the APC national leader as the best man for the job in view of his political experience, dexterity, exposure and national patriotism. He said since the north has served two consecutive presidential terms, power should be shifted to the southern part of the country in 2023. The group said its main objective was to promote friendship and goodwill among Nigerian politicians so that there will be sustainable peace and development.

In another report, a northern youth group has advocated power shift to the southern part of the country, after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023. The group, Tinubu North West Ambassadors, also endorsed the presidential aspiration of former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The group said its stance for power shift is for the sake of national cohesion, peace, and unity, insisting that the next president of Nigeria should come from the southern part of the country.
