LOCKDOWN: Corps Members To Collect Certificates At Local Govt Offices

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has directed qualified Batch “B” Stream 1 corps members passing out on Thursday to collect their Certificates of National Service at the local government level.

According to the scheme, NYSC officers have been mobilised for the distribution of the certificates, and shall do so from 10 service points in each of the local government areas.

It explained that as a precautionary measure, the distribution shall be staggered for 10 days in the first instance, to remove anxiety from the concerned corps members.

The NYSC stressed that the event, slated for May 28, would not be marked with ceremonial parades due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja by its Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, the NYSC urged the passing out members to observe strict discipline, orderliness, social distancing, use of facemasks, hand sanitiser and proper washing of hands during the event.

The statement advised corps members, who at present are not in their states of service, to wait till the ban on inter-state journeys is lifted before travelling to collect their certificates.

The Federal Government, in March, ordered all corps members to return home as part of measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

“It is imperative to state that corps members who at present are not in their states of service need not violate the ban on inter-state journeys, which is still in force.

“However, as soon as the ban is lifted and it is safe to travel, they are expected to go to their respective states of service to collect their CNS.

“Kindly note that unclaimed certificates shall be returned to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja two weeks after the lifting of inter-state travel ban.
