Opt. Cat race II and Council boss sustains peace building between Tiv/Jukun in Takum community through football match.
Still part of effort of the peace building initiatives of Gov Darius Ishaku to heal Takum local government area of wounds sustained during the long Tiv/Jukun crisis,
the Opreration Ayem Akpatuma II in collaboration with the Caretaker chairman of the council, Hon Shiban Tikari organised a football match between Tiv and Jukun youths alongside security personnel organised by the adjutant of Ada Barracks Takum.
The football match took place at Rimi playground in Takum with teeming youths cut across the ethnic divides in the community.
This development is to unite the warring factions and sustained their reconciliation towards building a better community where tolerance and cooperation with one another becomes the panacea for peace sustenance.
Hon Tikari appreciated the ongoing military operation in Takum and said there was no need for good neighbors to abandon their farmlands which is primary source of their livelihood and resort to fighting each other due to unfriendly influences from enemies of peace. He urged the Tiv and Jukun youths to resist the temptation of self destruction through financial inducement or tribal incitement from those whose motive is to set the land on fire for their selfish gains.
In Hon Tikari's word, "Tiv and Jukun can't continue to fight each other and expect to develop their land. You people must resist pressure from your kinsmen who are out to set confusion between us for their selfish interests. This crisis has not help Tiv nor Jukun, as both can't go to farms which is the only source of livelihood of our people".
"We all have to support the peace building process of Gov Darius Ishaku who is the son of the soil and ensure that we coexist as peace loving neighbors. Until we embrace peace, we won't have the confidence to call on him to come develop Takum" Hon Ti kari added.
