The stance taken by Taraba state government to ensure speedy completion of ongoing projects in the state to large extent indicates the state is approaching a curve of change in capital and infrastructural development.
Recently Taraba government began the reconstruction of Taraba motel which in the not distant past was taking over by individuals who converted the picturesque environment to their homes and some even turned them into a brothel to say the least.
As an individual who witnessed the motels construction, the glamorous effect it brought the state way back during the Jolly Nyame government, it was shocking and difficult to understand how an edifice of this magnitude would be left behind in the ongoing reconstruction and development of capital projects by the government, little did I know of what looms ahead.
Despite the lean pockets of the state, the Governor saw the need to give the motel a face-lift thus enhancing the quality of the the states tourism sector.
My hope is that the face-lift will be extended to some other dilapidating structures also needing same governments attention.
The curve of change in this narrative points to one direction which is primarily to dispel negative impressions and opinion held by a few whose lyrics is, nothing is working under the current administration.
Negative criticism is not the most logical way to keep the government on it's toes neither does it bring about a halt to any issues.
We must have to as a people appreciate the way the government is approaching issues that bother on aesthetics. These things don't come cheap. It takes a visionary and focused leader to get the job done and that is what Governor Ishaku is doing.
The curve of change has its own attendant crisis which most often lies within the limited resources available and the plethora of needs of the masses that keeps piling up on governments scale of preference.
No Governor in the history of this nation has gone over the line in terms of completion of capital let alone infrastructural projects in their individual states. Every state in Nigeria has one or more uncompleted project let alone the federal government who disburses monthly allocation to the states.
It may look like a snail speed approach from the point of view of critics of Taraba State government but truth is, the state is on track and not stagnant. Most infrastructural and capital developments projects that are revenue generating bound, might not be attractive to critics but in the long run it will be recognized by this same critics job well done. These kinds of people and groups exist in every society.
As we watch with deep breath and optimism, the approach that will culminate in praise for the feat achieved by Taraba state government, it is time for citizens and critics to train their minds on how to see the good in every situation. Taraba will be better off in no distant time.
