Education is said to be the backbone of every nation and Taraba state has truly fit into that definition in recent times courtesy of the proactive efforts of Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Since he was sworn in as governor of Taraba on May 29th 2015, Arch Darius Dickson Ishaku has prioritized himself in not only educating but also empowering both the teachers and the students via education. Below is a detailed and practical happening used to burress the governors efforts in the sector:
In 2015 he organized a seminar tagged "Train the Teacher" seminar which was held for two days and professionals were used to train the teachers, principals and so on which played a vital role in revitalizing the teachers & thus boosting their morale.
Sequel to the aforementioned, In 2016 for the first time in history, Taraba got 63.7 % in WAEC, which was indeed a great achievement to the sector and state at large.
A year later, after all hands have been put on deck to improve education and teachers welfare in the state to a reasonable extent. Taraba state emerged Number 8th in the whole of Nigeria with an excellent WAEC result.
This milestone achievement and more will be recorded in the sector courtesy of the rescue team which is headed by the rescue captain Arch. Darius Ishaku.
Below are efforts put in place by the rescue captain & their corresponding results.
-Recruitment of 3000 teachers
-Train the teacher seminar
-In Taraba State University, DDI increased the numbers of Professors from 4 to 56.
-Increased TSU faculties from 4 to 8 faculties.
- Introduction and accreditation of many courses which includes Law , Health Sciences, Engineering etc
-These improvements made NUC to increase the school admission capacity from 2700 to 5000 students upon which 5000 fresh students were admitted this year.
-With timely interference and contributions of the State Governor the school has started running a PhD program.
-Position 8th in WAEC Nationwide (2017)
-Improved teachers welfare
- Employed three thousand more teachers
- Provided 9,898 Class rooms Furniture
- Improved WAEC Performance to 65%
- Rehabilitated 424 Class Rooms
- Provided 256 Teachers Furniture
- Provided 65 new modern Toilets
- Payed Exchange schools honorarium.
