 Governor Ishaku Meets Traditional Rulers warns against Sale of Land

The 3rd Class Chiefs of Taraba State  visited Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, the meeting took place at the government house Chambers Jalingo.


The meeting was initiated by the Governor who intimated that the meeting was based on peace. The Governor said the primary purpose of their appointment was for them to serve as intermediaries between the people and the government especially on security matters. He said for sometime now most of them have not reported the security situation of their domain and they have been issues springing up. He said places where crimes as kidnapping has not been heard are beginning to come up, he mentioned places like Maisamari and others. The Governor also spoke on the allocation and sales of land by the chiefs, he said the LG has no right to give land to any one without his  approval or letter from the Bureau which must come from the right source, he said much allocation of land is one of the sources of fuming troubles in the LG's.



The Governor warned that serious measures will soon be taken on anyone who is caught in such acts because many who the lands are been allocated to are not even Nigerians. He went ahead to intimate that he is aware that there are tension in some areas of the state such as Sardauna where the Ambazonian are infiltrating and informed that he has made contacts for more soldiers both on land and sea ways. He however warned that it has come to his notice that most of the Chiefs travels out of their chiefdoms without obtaining permission either from the bureau or LG, he said such attitude will not be tolerated and advice those who are into such to desist from it. 


Speaking on allowing visitors into their villages and towns without their noticed the Governor said must be checked because most of those who comes in to stay are trouble bags who comes in to cause uproar and leave. The Governor went ahead to inform that there are issues arising concerning boundaries and he is doing everything possible to bring to an end this misunderstanding, he mentioned places like Bakula and Sanwi, Bete and Kashimbila and few others saying the proper demarcation will in no distance time be made so that a proper allocation will be done to each chiefdom. He however made it clear that no one should go round carrying rumours that there will be another creation of chiefdoms because that aspect is completed saying with the addition of 49 new Cheifdom he is sure that what is right to be done has been done. 


Darius Ishaku warned that on no account should it come to his notice that a chief is fighting another chief, he won't tolerate that. On Land dispute the Governor said all Land Dispute should be channelled to the right source and proper procedures should be followed in settling them. The Governor spoke on the Pandemic reverging the entire world (covid-19), he said they should be proactive in their domain's and not to take chances even though Taraba has not recorded any death and prays that no death shall be recorded, he urge them to follow the lay down medical precautionary measures so as to eradicate the Virus totally from the state. 


He made it known to them that more medical equipment have been made available to the centers in the state and with time the state will commission a full blown covid-19 test center. The Governor ended by notifying that the community policing which is on the pipeline will soon kick-start. He said the Taraba Marshalls licence has been approved and that is a typical example of community policing and assures that things will soon fall in place since the state already has one on ground. He informed the chiefs that their allowances will always be released to them as at when due
