Destruction of government and private property in the search of COVID-19 palliatives.

Loss of lives due to search for palliatives and not from COVID-19!

While I don’t hold brief for government, nor do I have explanations as to why the palliatives were not distributed as at when due to people in need, the deliberate attempt by individuals to destroy some government and private property of some citizens in the name of “collecting what belongs to them” which has lead to loss of lives is an unacceptable way to go, and no rationale explanation can defend such acts.

Citizens should not take laws into their hands, by destroying properties while at the same time lampooning government for negligence.

The lesson for government actors is to be more responsive towards her citizens.

It is sad to note that while the COVID-19 disease did not claim any life in Taraba state, in particular, the mad rush to loot COVID-19 palliatives by some citizens is alleged to have lead to the loss of some lives yesterday in Jalingo. This is sad and was completely avoidable if cautions were not thrown to the winds by people desperate to “collect what belongs to them “ by breaking and destroying properties!

And now as a result, we’re in a lockdown, not due to Covid-19 but to the rush for its palliatives!
