GOVERNOR FINTIRI CALLS FOR PEACE BETWEEN HERDERS AND FARMERS

Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri Saturday called on Fulani Pastoralists in the state to ensure peaceful coexistence between them and herders among other ethnic groups so that Adamawa will continue to live in peace and harmony.

Governor Fintiri made the call in the government house Yola when he granted audience to the delegation of fulani pastoralists on a thank you visit for restoring a grazing reserve in Yola South to them which was earlier allocated to individuals by the previous administration.

The Governor thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them that the revoked grazing reserve is one of the five others that will be developed in the state under the Livestock Transformation Programme of the federal government.

Governor Fintiri stressed that he will continue to do justice to all manner of people devoid of discrimination and urged Fulani leaders to preach peace among their followers for the betterment of the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the leader of the delegation, Dr Abubakar Umar Girei thanked the Governor for revoking the 'Dan Mai Kifi' grazing reserve for them and assured him unflinching support and loyalty of Fulani in the state.

He also appealed to the Governor to ensure that the grazing reserve is well developed and provided with school, market, shelters and other necessary social amenities so that Fulani pastoralists will live with their cattle happily.

The event was well attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bashir Ahmad, 
Chief of Staff Government House, Yola Professor Maxwell Gidado,
Senior government officials among other leaders of Fulani across the state.
